Almost two years of COVID, a month of Black Friday, Halloween, Cyber Monday is coming, and we’re already seeing Christmas & Hanukkah. My head is spinning and my internal clock is all messed up!
Hidden and almost lost in the midst of all of the hubbub is Thanksgiving.
For us, it’s a time to reflect, give thanks, and be reminded that it is people that are most important. This past year we’ve had wonderful small MLD Family Gatherings™ across the country, and sadly, lost way too many special MLD loved ones.
My last “great” family time with my mom before her passing earlier this year was at Thanksgiving … and that reminds me of 26 years ago when Teryn and I had Thanksgiving dinner and drink 😉 in the hospital with our daughter, Darcee, before losing her in December.

We’re thankful to have a 5th biopharma publicly announce their work on another type of MLD gene therapy – Affinia Therapeutics (we’ve been working with them for several years under NDA). And we continue our NDA-protected work with a sixth unannounced biopharma.
We’re thankful for the German and New York MLD newborn screening pilot studies, and for the Expert Advisory Group we are managing that is preparing our NBS guidelines and federal RUSP nomination package.
Most of all … we are thankful for you … the wonderful, kind, caring, passionate families, researchers, and clinicians we have come to know over the past two decades.
